One day industrial visit to ISRO

One day industrial visit to ISRO

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Cambridge Institute of technology organized a one day Industrial visit to ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC) for the final year ECE students on 18th October 2016.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is the primary space agency of India. ISRO is amongst the largest government space agencies in the world. Its primary objective is to advance space technology and use its applications for national benefit.

The occasion was graced by the presence of our beloved principal, Dr. Suresh. L, along with our Hod, Dr. Indumathi. G. Adding flavour to the day, Dr. Suresh.L encouraged the gathering to kindle a spark of light within. The journey commenced at around 9.00 am from Cambridge Institute of technology. There were two buses and the students were seated comfortably. We reached ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC) at around 10.00 am and after several security checks and administrative formalities, we were taken to a central building-Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Block. The visit was a very exciting one as the student could see the various subsystems used in making the satellite. They also saw the models of the first Indian satellite ARYABHATA, named after the mathematician Aryabhata, PSLV, GSLV a video about chandrayaan etc. Then, we were shown a video – ‘Gateway to Space’ – on the ISRO, its history, and the current facilities available. After the video, questions were fielded to the official, and they were answered with ease. The overall experience was enthralling and inspiring. It helped us appreciate the complex working and tireless effort of the scientists who work to make each launch a success. The inspiration derived was well worth the time spent. The visit provided an insight to the quality of research happening in the area of space technology and the scope of electronics and communication engineer in this field.

Our   student and faculty members would like to extend our gratitude to our beloved principal, Dr .Suresh. L for the support he gave to make our visit a success with accomplishment of objective and our HoD, Dr .Indumathi. G, for arranging this visit for our student. We returned with newly found patriotism filled within us, as the trip revealed India to be a superpower in Space Sciences.
