Java SE 8 Programming with JDBC & Networking
Department of Computer Science & Engineering, organized 5 days workshop on “Java SE 8 Programming with JDBC & Networking” from 28th July to 2nd August 2017. The Goal of this workshop is to enhance the skill set of Java among faculties, in order to adjust to the new syllabus of VTU. The VTU syllabus demands faculties to have strong knowledge in core java, java front end with JDBC connectivity and network programming skills.
The workshop began with inauguration by Dr. Suresh L. Principal, Cambridge institute of technology, highlighting the importance of Java, from both industry as well as academic perspective. Dr. D. R. Shashikumar, HOD CSE, Dr.Satyanarayan Reddy, HOD ISE, Prof. Nagaraj were also uncovered the goal of the workshop. Mr. Janardhan Singh K and Mrs. Jayanthi, Dept. of CSE were the resource persons for the 5 days.
First days of the workshop was mainly on basics core java covering encapsulation & sub-classing. The day continued with installation procedures of JDK and Netbeans IDE. The second day continued with Overriding Methods, Polymorphism, Static Classes, Abstract, Nested Classes & Interfaces with hands-on sessions. The Third day focused on front-end design component of Java, i.e., AWT, Java Swings, Event handling, Generics & Collections with hands-on. Fourth day had discussion on Database with JDBC, Exception & assertions, Threads, Java I/O fundaments. The day continued with discussion on databased Project design and implementation using Java as front-end and SQL as back-end. Day five mainly concentrated on Network programming java with motivation to build network applications.
The last Day (02/08/2017) concluded with project demonstration and valedictory function. Dr. Suresh L. Principal, CITech, was reviewer for the project exhibition and awarded prize for the best project. The participation certificates were given to all the 27 participants and feedback from participants were recorded. All-in-all, the participated faculties were benefited with the skills of java in the database and networking field.
