Orientation Program-2016

The Department of Electronics and Communication organized an orientation program for the new entrants on 4th August, 2016. Dr.G.Indhumathi, the HOD of ECE department welcomed and addressed the gathering. The faculty members were introduced to the students along with a brief presentation regarding the rules and regulations, code and conduct, policies and procedure which are to be followed by the students and gave a brief report on the workshops, seminars, guest lectures and conferences that were conducted in the department during the academic year 2015-16. The Principal,Dr.Suresh.Lintroduced all the first year faculty members to the new entrants. The students were encouraged and motivated by the speeches that were given by Prof.T.G.Shiva Panchakshari, Prof.Basavaraj and Prof.Shakila.D.

Bridge course on “Engineering concepts”

As students are unable to cope with the pace of teaching in regular labs, understanding of the main concepts in the lab courses are challenged at the very beginning of each semester. The bridge course was aimed to act as a buffer for the students, with an objective to provide adequate time for the transition to all engineering lab courses.

Guest lecture on “Promoting Entrepreneurship among the Youth”

In an endeavor to develop the entrepreneurship acumen among the students, the Electronics and Communication department organized a guest lecture on “Promoting Entrepreneurship among the Youth”, held on 29th July 2016. Prof.T.G.Shiva Panchakshari, the event coordinator welcomed the speaker,Prof. RakeshNagarajfrom the MBA department with a bouquet. The objective of the lecture was to make the students understand more about entrepreneurship, its myths and motivate them to innovate and explore new ideas. ece act3Prof. Rakesh Nagaraj from the MBA department, spoke about the process of designing, launching and running a new business as an entrepreneur and various other details. The lecture proved to be very informative, giving the students deep insights into world of entrepreneurship.

Alumni Meet

Alumni meet was held on 11th June, 2016 at II Floor, Seminar hall, Sir MV Block, Citech.It was atime of remembering the good old times and memories of the Citech Alumni and looking forward with a sense of purpose and anticipation. New bridges were built and partnerships were forged. Prof.Veerappa. C, Prof.Girish. H and Prof.Raghunath Reddy M.V were the event coordinators.Prof. Chaithra. S and Prof. Veda. B were the registration committee members. During registration all the Alumni members were requested to fill the registration forms, exit survey and graduation survey forms.Welcome address was delivered by Prof. Shiva Panchakshari.During the welcome address Dean Academics, Dr.Shashi Kumar and Prof. Gurucharan Singh,Vice President – Corporate Affairs and HR, Department of HRD were welcomed with a bouquet.

Dr.Indumathi.G, HoD of ECE department shared the Vision, mission, PEO and PSO of the institution and the ECE department and the importance of accreditation.Prof.Girish.H, gave a brief description about the responsibilities of Alumnus.Dr.Shashi Kumargave an innovative speech about “Students future and about the importance of Alumni meet”. Total50 alumni members attended the meet. Prof. Gurucharan Singh, in his inaugural address explained the significance of alumni reunion for the growth of the institution and the individuals. He stressed the need of close collaboration of Alumni members with the college to improve academic matters and employment opportunities.In response, few of the alumni shared their experience as well as interesting moments of campus life in Cambridge to the audience. The Principal,Dr.Suresh.L in his absence appreciated all the alumnus for their active participation in this event. The alumni members of ECE department were very happy and excited by meeting our Chairman Sri.D.K.Mohan .Students and faculty members interacted and captured a group photograph with the Chairman Sri.D.K.Mohan The Chairman, Sri.D.K.Mohan mentioned that he is looking forward for a greater partnership with Alumni in the days to come as we seek to serve the college community well and he stressed on setting up a strong communication channel between the alumni and the organization.

10 days workshop on Placement oriented programming skills in Association with CRANES Varsity for final year ECE students- 4th Jan 2016 – 14th Jan 2016

11th and 12 th of September 2015

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Cambridge Institute of technology, Bangalore conducted “A two days FDP on Programmable Digital Signal Processors” in association with Edgate Technologies- University Program partner for Texas Instruments, Bangalore on 11th and 12 th of September 2015. The main focus of this workshop is on programmable DSP processor with respect to audio, image and video applications. Prof. Sandeep R., Prof. Shobha S., Prof. Basavaraj C. and Prof. Shyam Sundar V were the program coordinators. Mr.RohitPrajapti from Edgate technologies Pvt. Ltd was the resource person and he gave a hands on experience using TMS320C6748 PROCESSOR. Around 50 participants from various colleges attended the FDP. We thank the Chairman Sri.D.K. Mohan and the principal Dr.Suresh. L for their co-operation and providing the resource, for successfully conducting this program.

``Teacher’s Day –Sep 5th 2015”

Teacher’s Day is that momentous event where students engage in unbridled capacity to shower their love, adoration and respect to their teachers, the harbingers of knowledge light, in their lives. 2nd ,3rd and 4th year students of ECE (Cambridge Institute of technology) have organized Teacher’s day on 5th September 2015.The program started with cake cutting ceremony and group photo session. Then the students organized various events like singing, mono act and Dumb Charades for the faculties. The entire event was organized by students of ECE and they were on their feet for long time to make this program memorable for both teachers and the students. It was indeed a great remembrance and token of love and respect they portrayed and projected to their teachers.

Induction Programme 2015

01 September 2015

Induction programme is an initiative to groom the overall personality of students and make them acquainted with the culture of the institution. Cambridge Institute of Technology conducted the 7th Induction Programme for the Second Year Electronics and Communication Engineering Students on 01 September 2015.The aim of the programme was to ensure that every student feels welcomed, engaged and excited to begin with their new and important stage of the education. The idea was to make the students aware of their prospective opportunities and to show them the path they have adopted in order to become successful engineers.

Dr.Indhumathi.G welcomed the gathering and sheencouraged the students to become smart learners and she also informed the students about the various qualities they need to inculcate in themselves in order to become good engineers. Dr.Suresh.L Principal, delivered the inaugural address and he advised the students to inculcate soft skills in them, as it will open a wide range of opportunities. He felt proud to announce that “ECE department has very good faculty members”, which is required for engineering students. He added that the infrastructure provided at Cambridge is a boon to the students to nurture their dreams.The Vice Principal emphasized on career opportunities in the electronics and computer sector, Prof.Kumaraswamy, ECE department welcomed the students and advised them with his words of wisdom…The program ended with the vote of thanks delivered by Chaithra of 5thsem ECE.

A two day workshop on “FPGA and ASIC design using mentor graphics tools”

28th & 29th Aug-2015

A two day workshop on “FPGA and ASIC design using mentor graphics tools” was conducted by the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering on 28th & 29th Aug-2015. The workshop was sponsored bytrident techlabspvt.ltd. Mr.Shuddodhan Shetty and Mr.Anand from trident techlabs were the trainers of the workshop.The inaugural function of the workshop started with a welcome address by Dr.Indhumathi. G, HOD ofECE department followed by the lamp lighting by the Principal Dr.Suresh.L.Prof.Girish.H presented the theme of the workshop and discussed the importance of FPGA. During the first day session Mr.Shuddodhan Shetty presented the current trends in VLSI design He discussed the role of mentor graphics tools for FPGA design flow, demonstrated the FPGA design flow using mentor graphics tools and exercises including design and implementation.During the second day sessionMr.Anand presented the hands on training onon analog and mixed signal design using mentor graphics tools.Prof. Girish H., Prof. RavikumarM ,Prof. Shakila D., Prof. Mahendra B M, Prof. Raghunath Reddy and Prof. Veerappa C were the program coordinators of this workshop.During the valedictory function participation certificates and appreciation certificates were distributed to the participants and the organisers.The workshop was a grand success and had got a rating of 89.07% from the workshop participants.

A two day workshop on Analog system design using ASLK Pro

At the end of the workshop the participants were able to learn about the operational amplifiers and its characteristics as well as various types of op-amps, analyze the operation of comparators, data convertors and implementation of the same using ASLK Pro. The participants acquired the ability to design and test practical circuits for amplifiers, filters and oscillators, functioning of PLL, VCO, V-I, I-V converters, AGC, AVC and analog multipliers and implement them for suitable applications.

24th and 25th August 2015

A two day workshop on Analog system design using ASLK Pro in association with Edgate technologies was conducted in Department of ECE, Cambridge Institute of Technology on 24th and 25th of August 2015.The resource person was Mr.N.Rajendran, Field Application engineerfrom Edgate Technologies and the faculty coordinators are Prof.Shakila.D and Prof.Roopa.M.The inaugural function started by 9.30 am and the welcome address was delivered by Dr.Indumathi.G, HOD of ECE Department. This workshop was conducted for fifth semester students which helped them to learn real world concepts and implement it with a unique hands-on experience in Analog domain. Analog applications like Video signal processing, Portable battery-powered instruments, DSL/Cable modems, Distributed power systems, Industrial control, Telecom and other analog applications require general-purpose operational amplifiers, wide-bandwidth precision analog multipliers, parallel-input multiplying digital-to-analog converters, wide-input non-synchronous buck-type DC/DC controller, and a low dropout regulator.

ASLK Pro kit is designed to support all the features to realize above applications and projects. During this workshop all the participants were exposed to a complete application- building concept using ASLK Pro. The workshop was designed to get a hands-on experience so that every participant will get expertise in using ASLK Pro.

Orientation Day- 2015-2016 BE

The orientation program for the new entrants was organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication on 6th August 2015. Dr.G.Indhumathi, HOD of ECE department delivered the welcome address and she introduced all the faculty members to the students. Then she gave a presentation regarding the Rules and regulations, code and conduct for students, policies and procedure. Prof.D.Kumaraswamy of ECE department gave a brief report on the workshop, seminars, Guest lectures and conferences conducted in the department during the academic year 2014-15.Students asked about the placement status and was satisfied with the answers given by the faculty members. The students were highly inspired by the motivational speech given by Prof. A.C. Vikramathithan and Prof. T. G. Shiva Panchaksahri
